1. Bandung — Best Overall Trip

The Whoosh high-speed rail changed everything. Jakarta → Bandung in 40 minutes for Rp 150K–350K ($9.40–$22).

What to do: Cafe-hop, visit Kawah Putih crater, Tangkuban Perahu volcano, shop at factory outlets, eat Sundanese food.


2. Bogor — Easiest Day Trip

KRL commuter train from Jakarta Kota station. 1–1.5 hours, Rp 6K ($0.40).

What to do: Kebun Raya (Botanical Garden) — one of the world’s oldest. Entrance Rp 25K ($1.55). Bogor food scene is excellent. Often rains in the afternoon (Bogor = “rain city”).


3. Thousand Islands (Kepulauan Seribu)

Boats depart from Muara Angke or Marina Ancol. 1.5–3 hours depending on island.

What to do: Snorkeling, island hopping, lazy beach days. Pulau Tidung and Pulau Harapan are budget-friendly. Pulau Macan and Pulau Sepa are premium.

4. Anyer / Carita Beach

3 hours drive west of Jakarta. Weekend beach resort area.
