A shopping list for life in Jakarta isn’t just about food. Alongside vegetables and something to cook for dinner, there’s toilet paper, tissues and a roll of rubbish bags to replace. GrandLucky SCBD is where we buy both fresh food and those household basics. Being able to combine them in one shop is the main reason it fits into our routine.
If you’re settling into an apartment around SCBD and wondering where to start with grocery shopping, this is a store we use ourselves.
What we actually buy here
Our shopping at this branch includes:
| For the kitchen | For the rest of the apartment |
|---|---|
| Fish | Toilet paper |
| Meat | Tissues |
| Vegetables | Rubbish bags |
That’s the useful part of GrandLucky for us: food shopping and replenishing household supplies don’t have to be separate errands. It is particularly relevant when you’re staying long enough to cook and look after a place yourself, rather than eating every meal out.
A look inside the store
The photo above shows part of the vegetable section, with produce displayed on wooden stands and refrigerated shelves along the back. This is just one part of the store, rather than a view of its entire range.
The rice aisle is another useful section to look at if you’re stocking a kitchen. The bags pictured here are labelled 5 kg. For a short stay, consider how much you’ll cook and how much storage space you have before choosing a large bag.
Shelf offers and purchase limits can change, so use the current in-store labels for your shopping rather than treating the signs in these photos as an up-to-date price list.
When GrandLucky SCBD makes sense
We would put it on your list if you’re looking for a place to buy fresh ingredients and ordinary household consumables in the same trip. Our experience covers the items above; the convenience is being able to pick up vegetables, fish or meat while also dealing with the less exciting things an apartment needs.
For your first shop, check what your accommodation already provides. Toilet paper and bin liners are easy to overlook when you’re thinking about meals. A short list for both the kitchen and the bathroom makes the trip more useful.
This is a recommendation based on what we buy here, rather than a claim that GrandLucky is the cheapest supermarket in Jakarta. For planning the rest of your spending, our Jakarta budget guide separates food from accommodation, transport and other living costs.
Finding the SCBD branch
This article is about GrandLucky SCBD, not one of the chain’s other Jakarta branches. Unilever Food Solutions’ store directory lists it at Jl. Jend. Sudirman Kav. 52–53, Senayan, South Jakarta.
For current opening hours or a specific item, use the SCBD hotline listed on GrandLucky’s official contact page before making a special trip. Select the SCBD branch when looking up your route, and plan the journey home around the bags you’ll be carrying.
Can you buy groceries and household supplies in one trip?
Yes — we buy fish, meat and vegetables here, along with toilet paper, tissues and rubbish bags. Those are the everyday purchases behind this guide. If your list includes a particular brand or a less common item, check with the branch first.
Photos and shopping notes are our own. Branch address and contact links were checked on October 4, 2026.
